Fran Rhodes is a painter who was born in Sheffield England in 1977. Her recent paintings, which are on show at Kidogo Arthouse in Fremantle, are of much loved, remembered landscapes.
Her childhood, from which many of her landscapes are drawn, was spent in the Isle of Mann, Liverpool adn Linconshire until her family moved to Australia in 1991. Since then she has tavelled and studied widely in Australia, England, Ireland and America. Fran Rhodes lives and paints now in East Fremantle and teaches part-time at Kidogo Arthouse and Curtin University.
She paints from memory, not from photographs, trying to recreate the sense of a place rather than an exact depiction. These landscapes are left largely untitled in an effort to be more accessible for viewers who have seen similar settings and similar skies. |
